DESCRIPTION:Our Full Time Students at the Innovation Week \nInnovation Week was a thrilling journey of exploration and learning. Students embarked on a captivating trip to Marrakech\, where the secrets of water management at the Secret Garden and the rich traditional craftsmanship of the ancient medina.\nThe Startup Showcase was a dynamic hub of creativity\, featuring presentations by Rachid Laanaya & Sofia Ghrissi on Agro-Link\, El Mehdi & Fatima Zahra Abbad showcasing Deepleaf\, and Louay Metougui presenting Amendy Foods. Abdelhakim Semmami represented InnovX\, bringing the perspective of an established industry pioneer to the event.\nThe week also included insightful visits to key locations such as 1337 for project-based learning\, the Robotic Laboratory at EMINES led by Saad Khattab\, the Green Energy Park with Afaf Zaza discussing energy alternatives for agriculture\, and an Experimental farm by Brahim El Kajaf addressing climate and productivity challenges.\nTwo workshops added practical knowledge to the mix\, covering fundraising steps led by Abdelali Laamari and innovative project ideas in Agri-entrepreneurship guided by Bisan Abdulkader.\nCulminating the week was the Agri-Entrepreneurship Bootcamp led by Peter Kruger at StartGate. This immersive experience provided students with a global perspective on the agrifood-tech ecosystem and equipped them to confidently navigate the complexities of agribusiness. Innovation Week truly set the stage for a future where our students are ready to drive positive change in the world.

DESCRIPTION:Gregory & Virginia Chaitin Conference and Live Broadcast at Africa Business School \nAs part of its recent launch\, the Chair of Complexities ∞ Humanities was delighted to welcome Gregory and Virginia Chaitin at Africa Business School on January 18th. This occasion honored the outstanding contributions of the exceptional couple. Currently residents of the Institute for Advanced Studies until June 2024\, their work was celebrated in an enlightening conference.\n\nDuring the conference\, Virginia Chaitin\, an esteemed Researcher\, highlighted the challenges faced by interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research rooted in entrenched disciplinary silos. On the other side\, Gregory Chaitin\, a renowned mathematician and computer scientist\, shared his insights on the theme “You can change the world”. His conference delved into the idea that imaginative new ideas have the potential to provoke radical technological transformations but often encounter substantial economic and political pushback.\n\nFollowing the conference\, an engaging live session was organized\, where the Chaitins were interviewed by Najib El Mokhtari during a live broadcast. This additional event provided an opportunity for a deeper exploration of the Chaitins’ insights and experiences\, further enriching the intellectual engagement of the audience.

Featuring seven distinguished international experts from Covington advisory firm\, the seminar specifically targeted OCP collaborators\, drawing over 60 participants in a hybrid format. This executive training covered a diverse range of topics\, with the first day focusing on Permanent Establishment\, Transfer Pricing\, CFIUS (Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States)\, EU Foreign Investment Clearance\, and Sanctions/Trade Controls.
