Dr. Andrew Forrest, Founder and Executive Chairman of Fortescue Metals Group, Australia’s largest iron ore exporter, was the keynote speaker at Africa Business School on May 29th, 2024. The theme of his presentation was “Going on Offense: Transforming Hard to Abate Sectors.”

Dr. Forrest is a global business and philanthropic leader dedicated to ending the use of fossil fuels, creating green energy solutions, and tackling global challenges like modern slavery and oceanic destruction through overfishing and plastic pollution. He holds a PhD in Marine Ecology from the University of Western Australia and owns Squadron Energy, Australia’s leading renewable energy company. He also chairs the Minderoo Foundation, a philanthropic organization focused on issues ranging from gender equality and climate change to rebuilding Ukraine.

During the conference, Dr. Forrest focused on several key points:
