FROM MOROCCO TO AFRICA : A STRATEGIC JOURNEY OF LEADERSHIP BEYOND TIME, SHAPING THE FUTURE
Organized by Africa Business School in collaboration with the John Molson Business School (Concordia University), the “From Morocco to Africa: A Strategic Journey of Leadership Beyond Time, Shaping the Future” Learning Expedition was a multi-day program designed to provide 26 Executive MBA participants with a comprehensive understanding of Morocco’s dynamic business environment, leadership practices, and Africa’s emerging potential. Over the course of five days, participants attended interactive conferences, took part in campus visits, and engaged in open discussions with renowned experts in entrepreneurship, finance, sustainability, and leadership. These sessions offered a deep dive into Morocco’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, government-backed innovation initiatives, and vibrant success stories, while also highlighting the country’s historical contributions to scientific thought and how they influenced Europe’s intellectual heritage.
The agenda included an exploration of the nation’s financial systems, featuring discussions on strategic transformation for capital market development and insights into business and trade in Africa. Sessions on wisdom-based leadership demonstrated how African heritage can help bridge cultural gaps and foster systemic change in organizations, while a sustainability case study—particularly focusing on OCP—underscored the importance of responsible business practices for long-term growth. Participants also visited Tangier’s bustling port and UM6P’s Ben Guerir campus, gaining first-hand exposure to Morocco’s infrastructure development and educational innovation. Finally, a dedicated day at the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) in Casablanca shed light on the private sector’s role in shaping the country’s New Development Model and advancing the roadmap of various economic commissions.
By blending academic rigor, cross-cultural dialogue, and real-world experiential learning, the expedition helped participants acquire fresh perspectives on how Morocco and, by extension, Africa, can serve as catalysts for global innovation and economic advancement. Through direct engagement with industry leaders, faculty members, and peers, attendees not only broadened their professional networks but also gained invaluable insights into the intersection of business, sustainability, and human capital development across the African continent.
